I don't think so. I think they only become "too much" when they're books you don't care for or are just there to show that you have books. Know what I mean?
If you have 10 billion books that you love and will reference and read, then no. It's not too much.

I agree that you can't have too many books. BUT... if they are beginning to push you out of your own home, you may want to consider purging a few.
